Actor. Born Francis O’Callaghan in Chicago, Illinois, he began his career in Vaudeville and made his first screen appearance in “The College Orphan” (1915). A popular figure during the silent film era, his many credits include “The losing Winner” (1917), “A Sure Cure” (1919), “Spirits” (1920), “Twin Husbands” (1922) and “A Ring for Dad” (1923). In addition, he produced and directed several movies such as “Modern Times” (1936) and “The Great Dictator” (1940). For television, he appeared on the series “Tombstone Territory”, “Johnny Ringo”, “Law of the Plainsman”, “The Donna Reed Show” and “Bewitched”. He also was married the actress Flora Parker and was the father of actress Gloria DeHaven. He died at age 90 in Woodland Hills, California and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
