Actress. Born Patricia Paz Maria Medina, to a Spanish father and an English mother, she entered the British cinema during her late teens and marked her film debut with an uncredited part in “Dinner at the Ritz” (1937). Following her marriage to actor Richard Greene, she embarked upon Hollywood and by the late 1940s, she was appearing regularly in such pictures as the swashbucklers “The Three Musketeers” (1948) and “Fortunes of Captain Blood” (1950). Following roles in the comedies “Francis” (1950) and “Abbott and Costello Join the Foreign Legion” (1950), her exotic beauty led her to be cast in the adventure films “The Magic Carpet” (1951) and “Aladdin and His Lamp” (1952). Her more significant roles are perhaps in the Edgar Allan Poe film adaptation of “Phantom of the Rue Morgue” (1954) and the Orson Welles picture “Mr. Arkadin” (1955). Her second husband was actor Joseph Cotten whom she married in 1960 and remained with until his death in 1994. The appeared opposite one another in the Broadway play “Calculated Risk” (1962 to 1963). In addition, she accumulated a large amount of TV credits with the programs “Have Gun- Will Travel”, “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” and “Mannix”, among others. She died from natural causes.
