Beverly Long (Beverly Long)

Beverly Long

Actress. A performer of some note in the 1950s, she is remembered for her part in the 1955 James Dean classic “Rebel Without a Cause”. Though little is recorded of her early years, she made her professional debut in the television series “Dangerous Assignment” and was first seen on the silver screen in 1952’s “Girls in the Night”. Cast as Nancy in “Rebel Without a Cause”, she had the same problems working with Dean as did virtually everybody else; Beverly had roles in a few more Hollywood features including 1957’s “The Green-Eyed Blonde” and the 1958 “As Young as We Were”, while on the small screen she earned credits with the “Schlitz Playhouse”, “Markham”, and several episodes of “Father Knows Best”. After retiring from the screen she worked as a casting director; Beverly lived out her days in Studio City, returned to the big screen for 2009’s Super Capers: The Origins of Ed and the Missing Bullion”, took part in a number of James Dean retrospectives, and died following a brief illness. At her demise she was one of the last surviving cast members from “Rebel Without a Cause”. (bio by: Bob Hufford)
