Emile Chautard (Emile Chautard)

Emile Chautard

French-born actor and director. Artistic director of the Odeon Theatre in Paris, he came to the U.S. in 1914 to direct films for the Thanhouser studio. In 1924 Chautard gave up directing to play character roles. His film appearances include “Morocco” (1930), “Shanghai Express” (1932),  “Blonde Venus” (1932),  and “Viva Villa!” (1934).  Some sources give his birthdate as 1881,  although he appears as an elderly man in his last films.
