Actor. Born in St. Joseph, Missouri, after serving in the US Army in World War I, he entered films at the Keystone Studios Hollywood, where his athletic prowess featured him in many silent films. A popular character actor he appeared in over 400 films and was best known for his role as Mr. Crumb the postman, in the “Blondie” comedy movies series form the 1930s to 1940s. His other movie credits included “Million Dollar Legs” (1930), “Murder on a Honeymoon” (1935), “Merry-Go-Round” (1938), “The Grapes of Wrath” (1940), “In Under Western Skies” (1945) and “The Glenn Miller Story” (1953). For television, he appeared on such shows as “Wagon Train”, “Riverboat”, “Donna Reed Show”, “Leave It to Beaver” “Real McCoys” and “I love Lucy”. He died in Hollywood, California.
