Actress. She shall be remembered for starring and sometimes appearing nude in several rather complicated and dark themed French and Russian film features. Raised in what was then the Soviet Union, little is known of her early years; she made her silver screen bow in the 1984 “Grazhadne vselennoy” and was to work steadily to the end of her life. Katia had the leads in at least two movies directed by her then-husband, Lithuanian Sharunas Bartas, 1992’s German feature “Trys dienos” (“Three Days”) and the 1996 drama “Few of Us”. She was Daiga for the 1994 mystery thriller “J’ai pas Sommeil” (“I Can’t Sleep”) and in 1999 had what was probably her best known role as Isabella in Leos Carax’ convulated tale of incest “Pola X”. Katia lived in Paris after the break-up of her marriage, was in two well received horror films, 2003’s “Twentynine Palms” and the 2004 “L’intrus” (“The Intruder”), and earned her final screen credit in 2009 with “American Widow” which dealt with the aftermath of the September 11 terrorist attacks.
