Actress. Ida grew up in Boston and at an early age became interested in acting. At first she took small parts to hone her acting skills later working in the Empire Theater stock company. Prior to the beginning of the twentieth century she and her family moved to New York city where she appeared in the company of John Drew as Muriel Mannering in “The Second in Command” and as Hyacinth Woodward in “The Tyrany of Tears.”  From 1903 to 1904 she appeared with William Gillette in “Sherlock Holmes,” and toured throughout the West under the management of Charles Frohman as Jinnie in “The Girl With the Green Eyes.” Her next performance was as Helena in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” with fellow actor Nat Goodwin at the Amsterdam Theater, later appearing in that same theater with Richard Mansfield playing Katie in “Old Heidelberg. Other productions she played included “Ivan the Terrible,” “Beau Brummel” and “A Parisian Romance.” In 1905 she headlined at the Liberty Theater in “The Moneymakers” and “London Assurance” as Grace Harkaway at the Knickerbocker Theater.  In late 1905 she traveled to London appearing at the Comedy Theater with William Collier as Agnes Holt in “On the Quiet.” She returned to New York near the end of 1905 and starred in the same role at the Criterion Theater. In 1906 she performed as Ann Whitfield in “Man and Superman” at the Hudson Theater in New York City, and in 1908 appeared at the Bijou Theater as Hilda in   “The Wolf.” The following year she starred at Wallack’s Theater when she played Sylvia in “A Little Brother of the Rich. He last performance in New York was as Asta in “Little Eyolf” at the Nazimova Theater. In 1911 she married Riccardo Bertelli, a son of an Italian Admiral and shortly afterwards retired from the stage. She was considered one of the best known leading women on the American stage appearing with the most noteworthy actor’s of her day including, John Drew, Richard Mansfield and William Gillette.
