Actress. Real name Ethalinda Colson in St. Louis, Missouri, she became an early star in the silent motion picture era. She entered films in 1915 after brief experience as a dancer in vaudeville. Her famous sidelong glance immediately pegged her for “vamp” roles and she won fleeting popularity in the late 1910s. Her most important appearances were in “The Vicar of Wakefield” (1917) and “Raffles, the Amateur Cracksman” (1917), opposite John Barrymore. Her other credits include “The Shooting of Dan McGrew” (1915), “Riders of the Purple Sage” (1918), “Whom the Gods Destroy” (1919), “The Forbidden Woman” (1920), “Borrowed Husbands” (1924), and “Pampered Youth” (1925). The “vamp craze”, helped Adams in furthering her career, waned in the early 1920s and she slipped into supporting parts. Apart from an uncredited role in one post-Silent era film, Cecil B.
