English television presenter, author, producer and above all, infamous prankster. Jeremy was born in Hackney, East London. At the age of 2 years old Jeremy was often in hospital for surgery on his hand for a condition known as Poland syndrome, a rare disorder which stunted the growth in his right hand. He was brought up by his mother as his father abandoned the family when he discovered she was pregnant with Jeremy. He left school and had various jobs including driving taxies, a tour guide and a photographer before he began working in radio and television. He shot to fame during the 1980s for his TV shows, “Watch out Beadle’s about” “You’ve been Framed”, and “Game for a Laugh”. He was also a consultant for a number of television companies and the author of books. In 2001 Queen Elizabeth II conferred on him the order of the MBE (Member of the British Empire) in recognition of his extensive work for charity, particularly “Children with Leukaemia”. It is estimated that the sum he helped raise was in excess of £100 million. In 2004, he developed kidney cancer and underwent surgery to have it successfully removed, but a routine blood test the following year showed that he had developed Leukaemia.
