Arline Judge (February 21, 1912 – February 7, 1974) was an American actress who worked mostly in low-budget B movies, but gained some fame for marrying and divorcing seven times. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Judge was educated in a Catholic convent. Arline Judge “got her theatrical start in Broadway musicals and revues such as The Second Little Show and Silver Slipper.” Judge began her career as a dancer in an act for Jimmy Durante. After meeting director Wesley Ruggles on a train, she got her start in films with his help, then married him. Nicknamed “One-Take Sally,” her film career spanned the 1930s and 1940s. Judge had a few television appearances, the last one in 1964 as Emmalou Schneider in the Perry Mason episode, “The Case of the Nautical Knot.” Judge was married seven times and had two sons; Wesley Ruggles, Jr. by her first husband Wesley Ruggles, and Dan Topping, Jr. with second husband Dan Topping, who from 1945-64 was president and part-owner of the New York Yankees.   Arline Judge was found dead February 7, 1964, in her West Hollywood, California, apartment. She is buried in her family plot at St. Michaels, a large marker over the grave reads simply “JUDGE”..
